Guangdong school and enterprise jointly build LED professional to solve the thirst of enterprise talents

As an emerging industry, LEDs are hot across the country, but there has been a lack of talent training. Guangdong Textile Vocational and Technical College (hereinafter referred to as “Spinning Institute”) will add new LED electric light source professional this year, and plan to cooperate with enterprises to cultivate talents. This is the first institution in Foshan to open LED professional, and it is also in the forefront in China.

The most lack of middle and upper-level talents depends on the returnees.

When it comes to professional talents, Foshan LED companies, including Guoxing and Zhaoxin, are all in common: “lack”. Huang Qifeng, deputy director of Foshan Science and Technology Bureau, analyzed that LEDs have only begun to heat up in the past two or three years. The talents required from upstream chips, extension to midstream packaging, and downstream applications span multiple majors such as electronics, optoelectronics, semiconductors, and engineering thermophysics. "Domestic cultivation has not kept up."

"The downstream lighting is okay, and the counterparts in the middle and upper reaches are almost all dig." Wu Yulin, president of the Foshan Light Association, said that most of the downstream talents have been transformed from the traditional lighting industry. Take Wu Yulin's lighting company as an example. None of the 15 people responsible for research and development recruited from the school. “All of them are transformed by traditional lamps. There are not many core technologies involved in the downstream, and the transition is relatively easy.” But the middle and upper reaches are different. Because of the new technology requirements, most of the talents come from abroad. "Some companies also recruit college students from related disciplines to train themselves, but the cost is high. The first year is basically an apprenticeship, and the second year is familiar with the business. It can only be used in the third year, and it is easy to be robbed after getting started."

Huang Qifeng pointed out that the LED talent demand gap is also growing. "It is expected that the gap in technical talents of Foshan enterprises will maintain a growth rate of more than 10% in recent years."

Spinning Institute opens professional hope to build together with enterprises

Recently, Guangdong Textile Institute announced the addition of a new LED electric light source. It is reported that the Textile Institute was funded by Guangdong Provincial Special Finance Construction in December last year and will be mainly used to build LED application and product innovation platforms.

The profession intends to adopt the "school and enterprise joint construction 2+1" model. The students studied at the school for the first two years and went to the company for an internship in the last year. The theoretical courses (including electronic CA D, single-chip C language programming, etc.) are the responsibility of the school. At present, there are 4 associate professors and 6 masters. The teachers are transferred from related majors such as physics and optics. The technical practice course is guided by experts from the joint venture or industrial base. The first batch of students enrolled in the Textile Institute is 56, and is in contact with Luocun New Light Source Industry Base and local leading enterprises.

"There is no problem in co-construction, but we hope to open more and more LED professional schools, and at the same time, we can train higher-level technical talents." Wan Xiaocheng, director and deputy general manager of Zhaoxin Enterprise Group, said that Zhaoxin entered the LED upstream industry. "We feel that the most lacking is the high-end talents of professional counterparts." However, the LED industry set up by the Textile Institute cannot solve this gap. "We still have to introduce from overseas."
